Dick Advocaat: I am still unsure about one or two positions as the Euro approaches

Russia head coach Dick Advocaat complimented his team’s performance in the friendly match against Denmark and hinted he still isn’t sure about the team’s starting eleven for the European Championship.

«It was a good game. We defeated a team that always wants to get a result. We wanted to evaluate the players’ level of fitness. The first twenty minutes we were excellent. We controlled the pace of the game, didn’t leave the opponent any scraps. Then they had a few chances, but we scored the second goal and things got a little easier. I am pleased that Arshavin played the full 90 minutes.»

«Are you impressed with Shirokov’s progress?»

«It’s true, when we signed him from Khimki some years back, he was a centre back. But he made a lot of mistakes, because he thought he was Franz Beckenbauer. Now he moved to a different position and is playing well.»

«Earlier you said there are three spaces available in the squad. Is that the case now?»

«I can say five or two, what difference does it make. I already have the line-up for our first Euro-2012 match in my mind. I am still thinking over two or three positions, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves,» the Dutch manager told Sport-Express.
