Dynamo Moscow excluded from Russian top division due to financial problems

Co-chairman of the Professional Basketball League Council and president of BC Khimki Victor Bychkov has announced today that the decision was made at the League’s last session to exclude Dynamo Moscow because of the club’s financial problems. The White-and-Blues will be replaced in the tournament by Spartak Vladivostok.

«It was decided that the 2011-12 season will be held among 10 teams. For today Dynamo Moscow is excluded from the league’s list. This is a very important decision, it has been discussed several times throughout the year. It is caused by the fact that Dynamo has debts owed both to the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB) and to players. Therefore, the RFB insisted on Dynamo’s exclusion during the course this season.

«Today we have heard the report of Dynamo president Yevgeni Gomelsky. Unfortunately, the club failed to achieve progress in solving of the problems which they’ve been facing several months ago. Therefore, there was a vote and we had to make such a severe decision. This club has left the top division – but I hope it’s not forever,» stated Bychkov according to RIA Novosti.
