Grosjean to replace Petrov in Lotus in 2012 season

Former Lotus Renault GP recently renamed as Lotus announced today that GP2 champion Romain Grosjean will compete for the team during the 2012 season along with Kimi Raikkonen. The Frenchman will thus replace Russian driver Vitaly Petrov in the team.

Petrov’s manager Oksana Kosachenko also commented on the reports.

«We still have excellent agreements with Lotus, we continue working with them. Vitaly will just have a somewhat different program, he will work by another plan. It’s all I can say for today. We will make an announcement this week.

«The Negotiations with other teams are ongoing, there is still chance that Vitaly will be seen as a main pilot. We don’t throw off any options. One shouldn’t take this as the end of Vitaly’s career in Formula 1,» Kosachenko said.
