Lokomotiv Yaroslavl to be created anew on basis of youth team and to spend next season in VHL
At the meeting of the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev with KHL directors it was decided that Lokomotiv won’t take part in the KHL this season.
Lokomotiv will be recreated on the basis of their youth team and, beginning in December, will start playing in the VHL, Russia’s second strongest league after the KHL. Pyotr Vorobyov, as it had been reported earlier, will become new Lokomotiv head coach. It’s also mentioned that a place in the playoffs will be guaranteed to Lokomotiv regardless of their performances.
It is also reported that a season later Lokomotiv will return playing in the KHL and will play in the playoffs. Moreover, the Yaroslavl club will be allowed to list six foreigners instead of the usual five, according to Sovetsky sport.
