Star Wars: CSKA- REAL scouting notes

I tried to figure out the rumour - again the young talent. And put scrupulous attention to his actions.

Luca Doncic (promised and forecasted to be 1st rounder in upcoming NBA Draft) had a very debatable game.

PG/SG Athletic ( too much athletic style)

Offense:

Runs the floor hard, Creator+ finisher – fast break points+, driving cuts, air contact baskets.

Missed 2 wide open 3-point shots.

Defense

Seemed slower than usual, fouls were not wise and not up to the situation ( vs DeColo)

Good steals and rebound game

Overall: Luca didn’t catch the game rhythm , was a bit slow against SCKA little guys, felt shaky and not focused in clutch moments. Some bad decision-making in the second half noticed.

Still lacks big games experience and clutch moment confidence.

Match Ups

Jackson- LLull

Llull- good speed and spot spacing for attack, missed too many long range during the 1st half.

He found his shot too late in the game.

Front line: Quatro Reyes-Ayon-Hunter-Randolph proved to be less effective than CSKA Kurbanov-Khryapa – Hines- Augustine in post game and defensively. The last four dominated on both boards 21-14

Shooters Fridzon and Maciulis had 5 shots each scoring 9 vs 11.

Joker:

Jaycee Carrol led Madrid  in the long pace run starting with his trade mark floaters.

He forced fast breaks and made his team finish in the 1st time zone ( 0-8 seconds), dishing out and scoring himself.  HE could have played more to balance DeColo and Teo destroying push and could have helped Sergio Llull distribute the ball and make  CSKA foul.

Rotation: both teams used 11 player rotation, though Real was more active in substitutions in the 1s  quarters to find the best defensive solution. 10 players from Real Madrid spent more than 12 minutes (only 3 more than 20 minutes) on court while Dimitris Itoudis mostly trusted his leaders.

Randolph struggled more within himself and couldn’t find is game, while Nikita Kurbanov executed another spectacular performance grabbing 8 rebounds  and scoring 13 points.  He stayed focused all the time and was the key guy on some loose balls.

Real didn’t find neither cure nor remedy against DeColo with his penetrating light speed punches and  in time shots. Though Real tried to be close in the end - having the chances to win the game Madrid players surprisingly appeared disorganized during the last offense plays with bad shooters selection.
