Owner of Spartak Moscow: Marcello Lippi refused our offer, hiring Louis van Gaal is unrealistic
In an interview with Sports.ru reporter Alexey Fomin, the owner of Spartak Moscow Leonid Fedun has revealed how the process of hiring new head coach for the club is going. According to Fedun, the Russian club has been looking for candidates among top European coaches, although no one of them has agreed to take on the job until now.
Are you still looking for a new head coach?
Yes, I do. In fact, we are doing it together with Valery Karpin.
And how successful has the search been?
Some candidates have already refused. I guess you may know a surname like Lippi. He told us that unfortunately he is not available at the moment.
And what about the rumors mentioning Louis van Gaal?
Van Gaal is currently settling his process of contract termination with Bayern Munich, and as far as I know he has said no to Juventus lately.
How real was the opportunity to bring in Andrey Kobelev?
As I’ve already said I won’t comment on the candidates whom I shouldn’t comment on.
