Euroleague: UNICS and CSKA suffer defeats at the hands of the Spanish

UNICS Kazan were knocked out of the Euroleague by the rampant Barcelona in a third straight defeat, while the other Russian club, CSKA Moscow, unexpectedly lost to Bilbao after winning the first two games.

UNICS’ surprise Euroleague run has ended with a 67-56 to Barcelona in the third quarterfinal match.

In the Tuesday match Kazan led 32-22 until late in the first half ,but Barcelona levelled the scores and stole the victory with a 10-0 late surge.

Meanwhile, CSKA were in a comfortable position going into the first away leg of the series, having beaten Bilbao twice in front of the home crowd.

The Red Army suffered a surprising 81-94 defeat in the third game, which took place in the Basque capital, despite the 22 points earned during the match by Serbian centre Nenad Krstic.

The next series game will be played in Bilbao this Friday at 22:30 Moscow time.
