Christopher Samba: Banana? Of course it’s racism!
Former Blackburn defender Chris Samba expressed his outrage at the incident which took place during Anzhi’s match with Lokomotiv, when a banana was thrown at him.
«Some people have suggested that banana is just a fruit, it’s not racist…»
«Of course it’s racist! What else could it be? What else would you call it when a black players has a banana thrown at him?»
«What if someone threw an orange at you? Would that be racist?»
«Sort of, yes. But a banana is simply outrageous.»
«Did your team mates support you?»
«You know, I am no wuss. I am a strong man and don’t need any special support,» Samba told Sovetsky sport.
