Aiden McGeady: I’ve no sympathy for Rangers

Spartak Moscow Irish winger Aiden McGeady admitted the financial catastrophe of Glasgow Rangers does not concern him, as he is a Celtic fan.

«They’re falling apart, obviously at the minute. I’m a Celtic fan, so I’ve no real sympathy. Looking at it from a Celtic fan’s point of view, of course every Celtic fan would take joy in it,» McGeady told RIA Novosti.

The former Celtic winger did admit that the famous rivalry was an important part of Scottish football.

«Perhaps they need that rivalry, because without Rangers the SPL would be quite naff as it would just be Celtic and the other teams below them.»

Glasgow-born McGeady elected to represent Ireland, for whom he has scored two goals and won 47 caps.
