Anzhi bag Alania midfielder Gabulov for $4.5 million

Anzhi Makhachkala have completed the signing of Alania Vladikavkaz winger Georgy Gabulov for a reported fee of $4.5 million.

Alania president Valery Gazzaev explained that the transfer was necessary to keep the club’s finances in order.

«First of all, it was the player’s wish to move to Makhachkala, we could not compete with Anzhi in terms of money. Secondly, at the moment Russian clubs are beginning to strive towards becoming self-sustaining, so selling players is one way to do that. We earned 4.5 million dollars by offloading Gabulov to Anzhi, that’s a lot of money for us,» the former CSKA manager told Sport-Express.
