CSKA fail in attempt to loan Tottenham’s Heurelho Gomes

According to the information that became available to Sports.ru, CSKA Moscow have made a last ditch attempt to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

The Russian club reportedly wanted the Brazilian to serve as a replacement for their injured No. 1 Igor Akinfeev for the next six months, but Gomes rejected the offer on financial grounds.

The goalkeeping crisis at CSKA stems from Akinfeev’s long-term injury and the departure of substitute keeper Vladimir Gabulov, who returned to Anzhi Makhachkala after a brief loan spell in Moscow.
