Russian owner of Portsmouth arrested and bailed out
Vladimir Antonov, the owner of Portsmouth FC, was arrested in the UK and later released on bail, according to Reuters. The amount of bail is not disclosed.
Antonov was arrested on the official Europe-wide request of the Lithuanian prosecutors who suspect him of large-scale embezzlement at Snoras Bank. Antonov has been its co-owner until it was nationalized recently by the Lithuanian government.
Another company co-owned by Antonov, Convers Sports Initiatives, bought Portsmouth FC in June 2011.
