Doumbia makes hat-trick, breaks Russian Premier League’s goalscoring record

CSKA Moscow forward Seydou Doumbia made a hat-trick in the Matchday 29 game of the Russian Premier League against Spartak Nalchik (4:0).

Thus, the Ivorian striker exceeded the mark of 20 goals scored per season. With 22 goals he became the best goalscorer in the history of the Russian Premier League. The former record the Brazilian striker of Spartak Moscow Welliton (21 goals, 2009).

It’s worth noting that in the history of the Russian championship only two players scored more goals in a season – Oleg Veretennikov (Rotor Volgograd, 25 goals, 1995) and Alexander Maslov (Rostselmash Rostov-on-Don, 23 goals, 1996). However, they both made it before the Premier League was founded in Russia in 2001.
