Atlant Mytishchi has completed the negotiations with the main candidate for the new head coach. According to the Russian club’s official press release, this position will be taken by the Swedish coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson.
Gustafsson’s previous club have been ZSC Lions from Switzerland, whom he has taken to the seventh place in the regular championship being later eliminated in first play-off round.
The Swede has been courted by two other KHL clubs, Avangard Omsk and SKA St. Petersburg. However, the former preferred to sign Czech Rostislav Cada and the latter have brought in Gustafsson’s predecessor at Altlant Mytishchi, another Czech coach, Milos Riha.
Riha’s former assistant Nikolai Borshchevski will continue his work in the new coaching staff under Gustafsson.
